As hoped for, I finished the petticoat and shift last night!

Today, I think that means starting Regency Leia :)

The petticoat just needs drawstrings threaded through the neckline and hem.

I think I can finish the chemise easily today. It just needs side seams felled, a hem, and shoulder reinforcements.

Hooray for no last minute sewing! Unless I want to :)

I finished the 1810s dress last night. I half tried it on and it looked like the neck was weird, so I hemmed it a little larger and added a drawstring. I also added three gathering cords because I don't like plain puffs. I thought having it over a long sleeve would be enough, but it wasn't.

But it's done!

I think I'd be done with the dress if I didn't have the world's knottiest thread, but as is, just 2/3 of the skirt to sew on!

I still need to make the petticoat and finish the chemise. I have a week. More than enough time!

The skirt is a big tube, ready for tucks and a hem, and then sewn to the bodice, and that's that.

Except for the new bodiced petticoat :)

It's an exceptionally boring dress, but is perfect for wearing under things!

The 1810s dress bodice is done. It's unlined, and is the same bodice as my beaded dress with a half inch lower neckline that I hope covers my stays. It'll have the same sleeves and skirt I planned before.

Of course, because it's sheer, I need a new bodiced petticoat. Oops. That's why I lined the beaded dress, so I wouldn't have to make one.

I spent the night redoing the Regency bodice, and I don't like it. Uh, oops? It's not done, but I don't think finishing would change things.

So tomorrow I start over. It will be my first plan, and not at all complicated. Plain fitted bodice, long sleeve with a puff, skirt with tucks.

Had I not changed ideas, I bet I'd have a sleeve in now...

I decided to go ahead and quickly make a later white dress to wear with things.

I want it simple to go under things, but not completely plain. It currently has my pink ball gown bodice and will have the same skirt and straight sleeves with a plain puff at top.

However, looking for inspiration after I started, I found very few of that sort of bodice. ( Read more... )
